Sidney reacts. GATES – We see coming out of the gates Charlie asleep on his mobility scooter, he disappears past the camera. There is a crash and a car alarm start to hoot. EXT. THE SCRAP YARD NIGHT The ‘gang’ stand outside the scrap yard, their first challenge is to get past the padlocked locked gates. Charlie is on a 8mph mobility scooter, with large basket on the front stuffed with equipment. They are positioned either side of the gates. Establish - directly facing the gates is a security camera. CUT TO – COMPUTER SCREEN, we see the feed coming from the security camera of the gates. A dog comes into view and starts barking. CUT TO OUTSIDE THE GATES. Sidney, signals and there is a deadened thud. CUT TO -Dog lying asleep on the ground. CUT TO Dorothy holding a tranquilliser gun. SIDNEY Nice one Dorothy. DOROTHY I’ll reload in case he comes round. ERIC (alarmed) In case he comes round. DOROTHY It happens. ERIC I don’t like dogs Sidney SIDNEY Leonard. You’re on. LEONARD goes to the gates and starts to fill the yard with smoke using a portable smoke machine. CUT TO A COMPUTUR SCREEN – The feed on the gates suddenly is clouded by smoke. CUT TO THE GATES. SIDNEY Harold. HAROLD steps up to the padlock and chain, with large bolt cutters. Unfortunately he is not strong enough to break the chain. HAROLD Can’t do it Sidney SIDNEY Anyone not got arthritis? They all shake their heads. ERIC Do you want me open it? SIDNEY It’s a combination lock, you can’t pick it. ERIC Stand aside. Sidney moves aside and Eric starts to fiddle with the lock. SIDNEY Every one all right? HAROLD Can I have my sandwich now? SIDNEY Yes have your sandwich. HAROLD Anyone else want one? LEONARD What you got? HAROLD Cheese and pickle. SIDNEY Hang on this isn’t a picnic. Harold has to eat little and often for his diabetes. Lets keep focused. ERIC (hands Sidney padlock) There you go. SIDNEY Already? Well done..well done. Okay lets get these gates open. With some difficulty, they open the heavy gate. They tip toe past the dog. Dorothy bends down to tend to him. THE SAFE – In the fog – Sidney and Harold stand holding torches, looking at the safe, it is still got flowers round it. Eric has an attaché case full of technical equipment SIDNEY Okay Eric, there is your task. ERIC I’m not happy about this Sidney, if there is a real body in there, there’s going to be one hell of a stink. SIDNEY How true. ERIC What is the point of opening it. SIDNEY I want to know what’s inside and I want to know if you can open it..Now just open it. HAROLD You are sure there isn’t a dead body in there? SIDNEY Of course I’m sure. It’ll be his ashes. ERIC (inspecting safe) I’ve never seen one these before? SIDENY Is that going to be problem? ERIC No. SIDNEY Then get cracking. ERIC takes out a lap top and head phones from the case. SIDNEY jumps – Through the fog appears Pearl with her over the top feather mask. The other two jump too. SIDNEY Don’t do that, you nearly gave me a heart attack. PEARL Charlie has got his scooter stuck. SIDNEY Oh great..here hold the torch for Eric. PEARL Oh lovely flowers. We are sure there isn’t a dead body in there aren’t we? Harold and Eric shrug. IN THE FOG – We see Sidney feeling his way UNDER THE SECURITY CAMERA- Leonard is holding the smoke gun underneath the camera. SIDNEY Where’s Charlie? LEONARD (points) He’s down a pothole. SIDNEY’S POV In the fog Charlie’s scooter is stuck SIDNEY Okay Charlie, with you in a tick. CHARLIE (calls) Give us a push. LEONARD Shall I give you a hand? SIDNEY No. Dorothy, can help me. DOROTHY I’m watching the dog. LEONARD Come and hold the smoke machine, I’ll help. DOROTHY gun in hand, takes the smoke machine or if she can’t hold it, supports it whilst it is on the floor. Leonard and Sidney try pushing the scooter. SIDNEY Give it a bit wellie, Charlie. CHARLIE Yeah,yeah you push. Suddenly the scooter is free, but though we don’t see it, we hear it hit something and there is a yelp. SECURITY CAMERA – Dorothy hearing the yelp fires the gun without thinking. MOBILITY SCOOTER- we see Charlie with a dart sticking in him, slumped over the handle bars – and he is still motoring at 8mph SAFE – Eric is hard at work, with headphones on. Looking at his lap top. Pearl and Harold hear the scooter coming at them through the fog, HAROLD Careful Charlie, we’re here PEARL Darling, you are coming straight at us. HAROLD That is you isn’t it Charlie? PEARL Charlie you’re going to hit us. DOG – Dorothy is by the dog. UNDER SECURITY CAMERA – Leonard is back on smoke machine duty. LEONARD (calls) Has he killed it? There is a suddenly piercing scream. DOROTHY The dog is fine. But what I’ll be back in a tick, I don’t want to miss anything. DOROTHY heads off into the smoke with gun in hand. THE SAFE - Harold is limping. Sidney approaches. SIDNEY Where the hell is Charlie? HAROLD The old fool just ridden over my foot. THE FOG – Dorothy jumps and fires her gun again. THE SAFE - They are hunched over the safe, the car alarm can be heard. SIDNEY That’s all we need. Some little thief breaking into a car… SIDNEY POV - He looks down at the safe and sees Eric slumped on the floor with a dart in his back. SIDNEY Dorothy! You’ve taken out Eric. Dorothy appears rather sheepish. DOROTHY Sorry, I’ll reload. SIDNEY Help me Harold. Sidney pulls the dart out of Eric. SIDNEY This is not going to plan. UNDER SECURITY GATES – Leonard still holds the smoke machine under the camera. LEONARD (very disconcerted) Hello, where is everyone? We’ve got a problem…Hello..the dog’s waking up. Ssshhhh go back to sleep, good boy, back to sleep. THE SAFE - SIDNEY (Patting Erics face) Wake up Eric. Hasn’t anyone got smelling salts? PEARL I’ve got deep heat. HAROLD Sidney, Sidney He’s done it Sidney, Eric’s only flipping unlocked it, before he fell. SIDNEY Unlocked it? Well open the door. HAROLD I can’t. He’s in the way. SIDNEY Well done Eric, well done Sidney unceremonious pushes Eric to one side. The car alarm stops. The smoke swirls. There is an eerie silence. PEARL Promise me there isn’t a dead body inside DOROTHY (waving gun) Isn’t this exciting. SIDNEY Stop waving the gun. LEONARD (distant cry) The dog’s awake! The dogs awake! SIDNEY Oh bloody hell… Quick stand back. We haven’t got long. Sidney opens the door, all torches are trained inside. Harold, Sidney and Dorothy and Pearl stand staring at the inside of the safe, with their mouths opened… SIDNEY Bloody hell……. TO BE CONTINUED……. END OF PART FOUR.
